Entrevista:Mindfeeder
Oriúndos do Barreiro, os Mindfeeder surgem em 2002, lançando em 2004 a Demo “Risde From The Flames” e em 2006 o EP “Mind Revolution”. Tocando um infeccioso Power Metal na veia da escola Germânica de Helloween e Gamma Ray, com influências de bandas como Stratovarius, a banda permanece sem editora, mas tem mantido uma firme aposta em espectáculos ao vivo para divulgar a sua excelente música. Foi na ocasião de mais um dos seus concertos, nomeadamente no In Live Caffé na Moita, que a Rock Heavy Loud teve a oportunidade de conduzir uma rápida entrevista com a banda.

Rock Heavy Loud (RHL) – Como se conheceram, e como acaba por surgir a banda?
Leo (voz, Castle Mountain) – A banda foi formada por mim, pelo Piri (guitarrista) e pelo Henrique (baterista). Começou por ser uma brincadeira. Depois entra o Estranho (baixista) e começamos a dar alguns concertos. Entretanto o Cleiton (guitarrista, Castle Mountain) sai e entra o Nuno (Tearful) para o seu lugar, entrando um pouco mais tarde o Ricardo (Teclas), finalizando assim o line-up. Na altura da criação dos temas, como todos gostávamos de metal concentramos o nosso som nesse estilo. Nesta altura tocamos um Power Metal europeu na onde de uns Stratovarius, com um pouco de progressivo.
RHL – Falem-nos do vosso EP “Mind Revolution”.
Leo – O “Mind Revolution” surge como o nosso primeiro trabalho. Um trabalho que nos agradou bastante, e que foi muito bem aceite pela crítica no geral. Acho que foi algo muito positivo. Ainda trabalhamos com a Célia (Fireball), com a Mena (Tearful) e com o Mario Renco dos Heavenly Bride.
RHL – Como vêem o mercado discográfico actual, e como têm sido recebidos?
Leo – Até agora, felizmente, nunca tivemos uma crítica negativa. Mesmo as pessoas que gostam de outros estilos acham o nosso som porreiro. Isso tudo em conjunto com as criticas que tivemos no Velha Guarda, que foi um concerto marcante onde angariamos muitos fãs. Depois uma coisa puxa a outra, e agora vamos ao Lagoa (Burning Live). E como até somos gajos porreiros, o pessoal curte-nos à brava (risos).
RHL – Que projectos têm em mente para o futuro?
Leo – Primeiramente acabar de construir o nosso estúdio, que será um passo importantíssimo. Depois lançar um álbum, que já se encontra em andamento, até ao fim do ano. Um trabalho que será também muito importante e, ao mesmo tempo, dispendioso, pois não temos editora. Como tal, tudo sai das nossas cabeças…. E bolsos (risos).
RHL – Falaste há pouco do “Lagoa Burning Live”. Como vêem, e o que esperam, da vossa participação no evento?
Leo – Esperamos divulgar o nosso som, num evento que é importantíssimo para nós e para a cena Portuguesa no geral. Espero que o Lagoa se afirme como um marco na história dos festivais em Portugal. Quanto à participação em si, será muito importante tocar para tanta gente. Iremos tocar alguns temas do próximo álbum para perceber as reacções do público aos novos temas.
RHL – Qual a sensação de partilhar os bastidores com bandas como Angra, Grave Digger ou W.A.S.P?
Leo – Vai ser bom.
Henrique – Vai ser um grande tesão! (risos)
Leo – Vamos ser como fãs histéricos atrás das bandas.

Leo – Parabéns para vocês e para o vosso webzine. Deixo também um abraço para todos com um último apelo ao público: apareçam nos concertos, comprem os álbuns, os EP’s, etc, pois só assim as bandas podem continuar a trabalhar. É triste quando há pouco afluência em concertos, ainda para mais quando há fontes de publicidade como a Rock Heavy Loud, sites e webzines…
Que os amantes de metal, não interessa o estilo que gostam mais, compareçam em peso no Lagoa.

Hailing from Barreiro, Mindfeeder were created in 2002, releasing in 2004 the Demo “Rise From The Flames” and in 2006 the EP “Mind Revolution”. Playing infectious Power Metal in the vein of the German School of Helloween and Gamma Ray, with influences from bands such as Stratovarius, the band remains without a label, but has been keeping a firm bet on live performances to promote its excellent music. It was on the occasion of one of their concerts, namely at the In Live Caffé in Moita, that Rock Heavy Loud had the chance to conduct a quick interview with the band.

Rock Heavy Loud (RHL) – How did you meet and does the band come to be?
Leo (vocals, Castle Mountain) – The band was formed by myself, Piri (guitar) and Henrique (drums). It started out as a joke. Then came Estranho (bass) and we began giving a few gigs. In the meantime Cleiton (guitar, Castle Mountain) left and Nuno (Tearful) came to take his place, Ricardo (keyboards) arriving somewhat later to complete the line-up. When creating our songs, since we all liked Metal, that’s where we concentrated our style. At the time we were playing European Power Metal in the vein of Stratovarius, with some prog mixed in.
RHL – Tell us of your “Mind Revolution” EP.
Leo – “Mind Revolution” comes as our first work. One that we enjoyed a lot, and one generally very well accepted by the critics. I think it was something very positive. We even had the chance to work with Célia (Fireball), Mena (Tearful) and Mario Renco of Heavenly Bride.
RHL – How do you see the record market of today and how have you been received?
Leo – Up until now, fortunately, we never had negative criticism. Even those who prefer other styles find our music cool. This in conjunction with the reviews we received in the Velha Guarda festival, a memorable concert where we gained many new fans. Then one thing brings another, and now we will be attending Lagoa (Burning Live). An since we’re really cool guys, people dig us real time (laughter).
RHL – What other projects do you have in mind for the future?
Leo – First of all, finishing our studio, which will be a very important step for us. Then release an album that is already being worked out, by the end of the year. That will also be very important and, at the same time, expensive, as we lack a label. As such, everything is coming out of our heads… and pockets (laughter).
RHL – You mentioned Lagoa Burning Live. How do you look at, and what do you expect from your participation in that show?
Leo – We hope to promote our sound at an event that will be extremely important to us and the Portuguese scene in general. I hope Lagoa will become a mark in the history of festivals in Portugal. As for our participation itself, it will be very important to play in front of so many people. We will play some songs from our upcoming album to try and see how the public reacts to the new songs.
RHL – What does it feel like sharing the backstage with bands such as Angra, Grave Digger or W.A.S.P?
Leo – It will be great.
Henrique – It will be f’ing great! (laughter)
Leo – We will be truly hysterical fans chasing the bands.

Leo – Congratulations on your webzine. I’ll also leave everybody a compliment with a last appeal to the audience: show up at the concerts, buy albums, EP’s, etc., because that’s the only way bands can continue to work. It’s sad when concerts don’t have a big audience, even more when sources of publicity abound, like Rock Heavy Loud, websites and webzines…
